Planview recognized as a Leader in 2017 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Project Portfolio Management, Worldwide
AUSTIN, Texas – June 7, 2017
Planview® has been designated as a Leader in the first edition of the May 2017 Gartner “Magic Quadrant for Project Portfolio Management, Worldwide.” Gartner evaluated Planview based on the company’s PPM-related products, which include Planview Enterprise® (strategic portfolio and resource management), Innotas® (PPM for maturing organizations), and Projectplace® (collaborative work management).
Previously, Planview was positioned as a Leader in the May 2016 Gartner Magic Quadrant for IT Project and Portfolio Management Software Applications, Worldwide1 and Innotas (acquired by Planview in August 2016) was positioned as a Leader in the May 2016 Cloud-based IT Project and Portfolio Management Services Magic Quadrant2. Gartner introduced the new Magic Quadrant for Project Portfolio Management to reflect the current state of the market, stating, “In recognition of the trend toward multiple deployment options (e.g., on-premises, hosted, cloud-native and hybrid) offered by PPM providers and, in turn, deployed by various types of PPM customers, this first iteration of the PPM Magic Quadrant continues to emphasize support for the IT PPM portion of the market, but IT is not the only segment evaluated.”3
Planview offers a work and resource management solution that fits the needs of every PMO. Innotas is ideal for those just starting out in PPM who are looking to mature resource management and portfolio prioritization, while Planview Enterprise is designed for enterprise-wide portfolio and resource management. Stakeholders can visualize portfolio performance against plans and make decisions that ensure resources deliver the highest value projects. Projectplace complements both Innotas and Planview Enterprise by bringing teams together to get the less structured, routine work done that drives much of the day-to-day business.
According to the new report, “The estimated $2.3 billion project portfolio management (PPM) market is an ‘umbrella’ enterprise software market, composed of a growing set of both existing and new PPM submarkets. It is currently growing at more than 11 percent per year. The proliferation of these markets mirrors the differing technology needs we see among groups, departments and enterprises seeking out PPM software. New approaches to the challenges of executing transformational initiatives in the midst of digital disruption drive these diverse technology needs. In response, the PPM market continues to grow and expand to support a number of different use cases targeting different types of user groups with different goals and challenges.”4
“Organizations are driving toward growth, innovation, and transformation at a faster pace than ever before, requiring PMOs to evolve beyond on-time, on-budget project delivery to realize the full potential of their resources and deliver portfolios with higher strategic value,” said Patrick Tickle, Planview chief product officer. “We believe our designation as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for Project Portfolio Management, Worldwide affirms that Planview’s comprehensive solution for work and resource management addresses every type of work and use case, and enables all organizations, of every size and maturity, to achieve successful business outcomes.”
